At Handmade Happiness, you can shop with confidence knowing every product we carry is consciously crafted, eco-friendly and ethical.
I am Manishi, one of the guys behind Handmade Happiness, a small family-based business in Squamish, beautiful British Columbia.
Since 2002 we have been working closely with the artisans of Nepal to produce unique eco-friendly and Fair Trade gifts that put people and our planet first. All our products are handmade using locally sourced sustainable materials. By supporting traditional crafts, such as paper-making, metalsmithing, book artists, felt artists, weavers, and many others, we are helping them to pass the skills to the next generation and keep the art and craft alive. Your support has helped us create a steady source of income much needed for the artisans and their families in Nepal. We are proud to say that over 95% of our artisans are women.
In 2001 while trekking in Nepal, I came across the beautiful sight of villagers drying paper on big wooden frames in a rural village in Baglung district. The rustic, natural, tree-free paper and the story behind the rich paper-making tradition were so impressive that I stayed there for two months. I learned how to make handmade paper and hand-sewn journals. In months to follow, a business idea was born. We started working with the local artisans of Nepal to make paper products such as notebooks, cards, and scrapbooks.
Over the years, I also participated in several local markets in Squamish, Whistler and Vancouver to promote my hand-sewn journals.
We started with handmade paper products, followed by book artist folders, and now we are happy to introduce healing bowls, hemp and cotton totes, yak wool blankets & shawls to our valued customers worldwide.
Thank you for your support!
